Pepper Cricket!
r3dux | March 13, 2009I don’t really have what you would call green fingers, but I don’t mind plants at all – and have two outside plants atm which I could never possibly grow without a greenhouse and/or lamps back in the UK – a Thai Chilli pepper plant, and a baby Lime tree =D
The Thai Chilli’s pretty interesting in that it’s kinda rainbow coloured – the baby chillies start off very mild and purple coloured, then mature to green, then finally to firetruck red – at which point they pack a serious punch! Having eaten all the chillies that came on the plant when I bought it, I’m now onto the 2nd round of chilli growth, and had just popped outside when I noticed a cricket sitting on my baby peppers – so I snapped a pic!

Go baby-peppers! Go!
How To: Fix A Numeric Keypad That’s Stopped Working In Linux
r3dux | March 11, 2009Numeric keypad used to work, now all of a sudden hitting digits won’t enter them even though NumLock is on? Yup – you’ve somehow enabled “cursor control” mode for the numeric keypad.
The fix? Hit Ctrl+Shift+NumLock to un-b0rk it.
That is – press and hold Ctrl, then while still holding down Ctrl, press and hold Shift, then while still holding down both Ctrl and Shift press the NumLock key.
You’re welcome =)
Dove Parody: Copyright and Fair-Use
r3dux | March 10, 2009I’m teaching a class on ethics as part of the Multimedia course so I’ve been researching copyright, fair-use, parody etc and was given a link to these two vids – which I think are fantastic
The first one was a Dove (soap) brand commerical aired in the UK amongst other places that tries to show us that we shouldn’t aspire to be so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing because all the models you see on magazine covers aren’t - they’re digitally manipulated to within an inch of humanity. And the parody? Well, see for yourself…
Dove – Evolution
Slob – Evolution
Very well played! Bravo! =D
