Blog Stats Flat-Line Fixage
r3dux | August 7, 2009WordPress stats suddenly flat-lined to zero? Then you might want to double check that your footer is being displayed, like, you wouldn’t want to add a widget like an XBox 360 Gamercard to your blog and then forget to close the iframe enclosing it, resulting in the footer not being called, and the stats not being updated, would you? [sheepish-cough].
If your footer is being called but page hits still aren’t registering, I’d look into making sure your WordPress API Key is all set up properly (like edit the WordPress Stats plugin [through Plugins | WordPress Stats | Editor] and hard-code it briefly to see if that helps). Worst case scenario your database has corrupted and/or blanked the key, in which case you could read this and get ready to get your hands dirty with PHPMyAdmin…
Light Box Photography
r3dux |Decided to make a light box/light tent for taking product shots with the multimedia monkeys in my class today – used the instructions found here: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-an-Inexpensive-Photography-Lightbox

Took the photo above earlier and touched it up a bit to clean up the background to a pure white, original shot can be found here.
Didn’t have tissue big enough to put over the cut-out sides of some of the boxes we used, so we just used grease-proof baking paper to diffuse the light (from a big-ass stage light) through. Just be careful with your white-balance when taking shots (as things can take on a creamy background instead of white if you’re not careful) and everything should be fine
How To: Force Word 2003 to Repeat Table Headings Across Pages
r3dux | August 4, 2009Occasionally Word 2003 will refuse to play ball when you ask it to repeat table headings across pages, that is, each new page that a table’s on gets the table heading so the reader knows what’s what in the columns. But sometimes no matter what actions you perform that should do the trick – it just doesn’t happen. Here’s how to skull-fuck force it into doing what you’re damned well telling it to do:
- Tried selecting the top row, then Right click | Table Properties | Row tab followed by checking the box labled Repeat as header row at the top of each page? Not having it?
- Tried selecting Text Wrapping to None from the Table tab of Table Properties? No dice?
- Tried un-marking the Properties | Repeat as header box then hitting [OK] then getting the table properties up again and re-selecting the box followed by [OK]? Still being a dick?
- Then click somewhere in the table and go to Table | Heading Rows Repeat in the menu. Sorted!

OMGWTFBBQ, eh?
