Well yeah, I was testing with pan myself, but I also tested with slrn and had the same results. Slrn actually shows article counts on each group, but when you open it, it changes to zero and is empty. I really don't know what the issue is, but I'm sure it isn't that there just isn't any recent activity, because I tested with some popular groups. At least for pan, I solved it by adding newszilla6.xs4all.nl as a secondary newserver. I've configured sabnzbd+ to use both newservers as well, so I'm sure downloads will work just fine wherever it manages to get them from.

Hmm, what newsreader are you using? I've got to admit I didn't even have one installed (sabnzbdplus is more of a downloader) - so I've just installed Pan via synaptic, fired up my IPv6 tunnel and gave it the following details for the server:

Host: newszilla6.xs4all.nl
Port: 119
Username: geen
Password: geen
Connection Limit: 3
Expire old articles: 1 month
Server Rank: Primary

And I'm damned if I didn't have the exact same issue - it reads the big list of newsgroups, but when I say "Get recent headers" it won't give me any of the headers or posts... I just had a look in /var/log/news and everything seemed fine there (no errors at all)..

I then subscribed to three OpenGL groups: linux.dev.opengl, comp.graphics.opengl and comp.graphics.api.opengl, and tried to "Get Headers | Get All Headers" - and I actually got some for the final group!

So, maybe when you're asking for recent posts, there just aren't any on the groups you're trying to get messages for... As a final test, I'll try to get posts on something popular... uk.music.charts gives me 297 posts when I tell Pan to "Get Headers | Get the latest N headers" (with N set to 300).

So, with the above free IPv6 news server it works, there just might not be any recent activity on the groups you're trying to get messages on! Perhaps! =P

Let me know how you get on.

I successfully set up an ipv6 tunnel (I can ping6 ipv6.google.com just fine) and I setup my newsreader to access the xsnews.nl NNTP server. My newsreader downloads the groups, and article counts, but every time I open a group, it updates the article count to zero and reports "no articles found." This happens for any group I try to open. Any ideas?
