I had more or less a likewise problem. Apparantly, the emailaddress I use for xboxlive is assigned to New Zealand! That specific gamertag is assigned to the region New Zealand (???? I am from Holland so I really have no clue how this has been established??). So everything can be changed from my account except for the country, still assigned for New Zealand.

So all the ms points I bought cannot be used in Holland, only in New Zealand. This is f*&&#$& bullshit and this has me very frustrated. So I bought all those credits on my gamertag but I cannot use them, thanks M$!

Bunch of retards on the phone, just like you had! They just simply explained that my 50$ had been a waste of money and that there is no workaround!

Cheers for the info, but buying the points through the Xbox dashboard with my UK credit card instead of buying a pre-loaded Xbox points card worked just fine from the AU =D

This will work as long as you have a UK CC.
If you get an aussie CC then you won't be able to add it to your account for some really obscure reason.
Just wanted to give you an heads up in case.

The only workaround seems to be to by your cards online from place like xboxliveuk76.com (they email you the codes).
You will still only have access to the euro store, but at least this way you won't have to create a new account :)
